Does anyone remember what a typewriter is? For those of us that are middle aged probably remember a typewriter as the high tech gadget of the 70's and early 80's.There were even typewriting lesson for the ladies and it was part of the School curiculum at most Western schools.
The first ones were mechanical;then the electromechanical ones came out. There was even a version that ''corrected'' mispelled words (one at a time, don't get excited).Even IBM produced typewriters and at some point, their sales from typewriters were higher than their computer sales. Reminder! A Computer at that time was the size of a room and as expensive as an economy car.
Me personally, after a lot of frustration, jammed keys, black fingers from changing the ink and a lot of noise, threw my typewriter out of the window the minute I got my first word processor which at the time was $650 in today's money.
The humble tyewriter did however leave behind a legacy and todays computer terminology like QWERTY,backspace, cursor and dead key.
